POLL: What Is Your Monitor Resolution Setting?

Post by timbre4 »

In preparing shop mgmt web based training videos production for the pending Manager SE / ShopStream 6.3 release, I have to finalize the output dimensions of the videos to fit fully on the screen. The content cannot be off the screen and I must also allow space for any playback controls.

It occurs to me this is a good time to poll users as to what screen resolution shops are running and the shape (standard or widescreen) of their monitors are. National data indicates that 1024x768 is now average for most PC users. Using recent repair & estimating videos as a model, these will be delivered in approximately 960 x 600 resolution.

If unsure, you may check it by right-clicking on your desktop and selecting Properties, then the Settings tab and check this scale:

Because you may have a mixture of different monitors and individuals with their own preferences, this poll allows THREE options per vote.

Please note that the 6.x version of shop mgmt software requires a minimum of 1024x768 resolution. If you're running 800x600 and plan to migrate to 6.x version, it's time to upgrade. If you need an excuse, here's a couple: prices have tumbled on good LCDs and they're better on your eyes!

I am running several different size LCD flatscreens. The one I use mostly is a 24" wide screen set at 1280x720.

The others are in use at this time and not sure of the settings on them. One of my guys has very bad eye sight and I have his resolution set to where you have to scroll some. But it works for him.

Mitchell works best on a wide screen with the highest resolution you can stand! The more you can get on the screen without scrolling, the better! Get a big monitor, 24 or bigger! They're cheep these days!
