Can the timing belt jump and cause a misfire in two cylinders, but still have good compression in both cylinders.

Can't see how. what cylinders are involved? Did you take the compression test with all plugs still removed? I've seen situations where the head gasket is blown between cylinders and will show compression in the plug is in the cylinder next to it. Please add as much information in your reply, thanks.
