2007 Kia Rio

Post by Jeff @ Able Auto »

Mitchell shows this vehicle to have air temp sensor as part of the mass airflow sensor. Problem is this one has no maf...air temp is integral with MAP. Went all the way up to 2009 to find the correct info.

When I go in on a 2007 and type, intake temp sensor, I get a picture of the MAP sensor like it should. Can you describe exactly where you see a MAF? Or describe your exact navigation. Kia's and Hyundai's have some weird SI that goes all the way back to the OEM.

Started out with code P0111. Dropped that into the search and it brings up Mass Air Flow. In trying to find the test info it kept leading back to MAF. Tried intake temp sensor..air intake temp sensor..both come back at no result. Air charge temp sensor leads to map sensor. Went up to 2009 model to find the procedure for testing with the air temp integral to MAP sensor.

Ahh yes. When you search that code, it brings you to an incorrect link. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that's the way it is in the OE service info. I've encountered numerous errors there in the past. Hyundai and Kia are notorious for this.

As I stated, I typed 'intake temp sensor and I got the correct diagram and picture. It shouldn't take this much effort, eh?

See thats what I dont understand..when I put in intake air temp sensor it comes back with nothing found. Had to go to air charge temp sensor. Even then the diag in 2007 was for a MAF. Like I said had to go up to 2009 to find test for air temp in the MAP. Anywhooo...its all good now. got the MAP on order. Thanks for the help!

Looking at the response I got back, our repair information matches what they have on their website for this.

As the name of our shop implies, we specialize in Asian vehicles, BUT you won't find the words Hyundai or Kia on our website of listed makes that we work on. Not saying we don't work on them, just that we'd rather not. As much as they've made positive strides over the years, they are still terrible... on so many levels.
