2004 Subaru Outback - Cruise Deactivates In 5th Gear

Post by maharrick »

Cruise deactivates in 5th gear only. Sets and comes out right away. stays activated if shifter is held forward.

check switch on transmission. the system is designed to shut down if transmission isn't in gear. the switch may feel it's in neutral and shut the cruise off.

Sycros and dogs may be bad also May have clutch slip Need to verify for this.

If clutch slips computer shuts off the cruise. If switch is bad may also cause but only with the mop bucket effect.

Miles ?
If they don't know how can they fix it!

I have to agree with Steven. Check the gear position sensor - make sure the computer "sees" the vehicle in gear.

If the shifter is loose I would look there. It says it holds if you push shifter forward/
