We have a 2004 Mazda MPV ES 3.0L, V6 has 119949 km
Customer has put 3 batteries in van in last 2 yrs Last battery was in Dec 09. Still having problem. Suspect it has a draw of some sort. If does not put the battery charger on battery everynight or every second night the van will not start without a boost after 5 days. We have checked it for a draw - there is none everything is normal.
Need some suggestions please

Can you tell us *exactly* what the key off draw is in milliamps after a 1 hour power down?

Do you have a low amps probe and a lab scope? If so, set it to AC coupling and put it on the alternator wire. How much does it peak in both directions?

any add on accessories? ask customer to leave a piece of tape on the lock button and see if it's been disturbed after it's been sitting.

They have found that there is a 300 milliamp draw in the system, by process of elimination found it is coming from either the Interior lights or power door locks - Removed the light bulb draw still there, removed the fuse for the Int Light/power door locks draw is gone, now have to source wires

Ok then. Yes, 300mA is way too much and will kill the battery. So from looking at the diagram are you referring to the room fuse? Pull the power distribution diagram and see what else is on that fuse. You're almost there; just need to do a little tracking.

Ric, John wanted to know if he would be able to talk to you direct, they have some other things they have found which would be easier to explain in person
