2002 Volvo S80 - 2.9L Code PO748
I got the Volvo from my trans shop who replaced a blown up 4t65ev for another shop. Car now has a PO748 or TCM-0010 code for the pressure control solenoid. They tried a used TCM flashed at the dealer and a second used transmission and the code keeps returning. Code sets more often when cold but can still set hot. I scoped the circuit and found no issues when the code set. I bypassed the entire harness from TCM to trans connector in case it was an intermittent short. I installed (externally) a PCS (used but known good) and the code still set. I was told that used transmissions and Volvo's don't play nice but I haven't experienced that myself. I'm left to conclude that there is an internal transmission issue, but the likelyhood of two transmissions with the same problem seems remote. Anybody have any insight?

I read about there are 2 versions of this transmission possibly. One is gm and the other volvo and they use different sensors? Maybe thats the kicker?

4T65 is a GM transmission. Let me do some research on this one. Usually the solenoid is at fault, but I will get back with you.
Uncle PETA said I could come back.

Thanks. Yes, it's the GM transmission. Very simple. And that's how I'm feeling.

Also, if anyone knows the difference between the 4T65EV and the 4T65EV-GV I'd love to know. Might give us a clue.

4t65ev(gt) found gt not gv. check ur fax. ummm ur fax is also out to lunch.
4t65ev(gt) ia an electronically controlled a/t with an optional lock-up function on the 3 highest gears. the tcm adapts the gear shifts so that the correct gear is always selected to match the driving style, engine load, the wishes of the driver, vehicle speet etc. this ensures good fuel economy and increased comfort through smoother gear changes and lower sound levels.
yadda,yadda,yadda.

Yes, my mistake. It's GT.
So the difference between the two is the GT model has Triptronic, which is a manual shifting mode within the automatic. It appears that the transmissions are the same, with differing controls. This vehicle does not have Triptronic.

The more I look the more I find the sensors being different from a gm to volvo version. Do they have the old one for you to possibly identify? If not that then I see internal problems as the next most likely cause

The original is gone. We're going with internal trans as well.

Tina, read it again.
TCM-0010, not 010. There is no a,b, or c. You're reading the code sheet from an AW transmission.

Re: 2002 Volvo S80 - 2.9L Code PO748
maybe a 0 got lost between sweeden and usa. some times it takes a febel mind. as i read the chart. OBD2 Had 1 code #p0748????. Volvo had 6. 1 intermittent, and 1 permanent fault codes for each. darn i forget.....the solenoid.
lets take a step back. take a breath. and try to finger out what them sweeds had inmind.

Re: 2002 Volvo S80 - 2.9L Code PO748
on a limb here but were any external sensors swapped initially and then transferred to the used unit (he said unit) that you installed. somewhere i read of a similar issue and two sensors were swapped incorrectly the initial time. then transferred to another unit and unfortunately the second tech put them back into the incorrect position causing a dilemma. the swap was noticed when someone was looking at a color picture of the transmission and noticed the colors of the sensor plugs were in the wrong place. swapped sensors and issue resolved.

I wish. The unit was not opened on either. Everything is internal.
