2004 BMW 745Li - Oil Consumption

Post by Princeton Auto »

'04 BMW is using oil. After vehicle has been idling for a short time as if at a stop light. Upon acceleration, blue smoke can be seen. Typically we would suspect valve stem seals, and I have seen this problem with PCV systems as well.

But on this particular vehicle, I am suspicious that it may be something other than an internal component failure. Mileage is 101K...

Any suggestions??

How much oil is it using? Any external leaks? Have all the PCV updates been performed? Has the non-return valve campaign been performed? What is the crankcase pressure? Have you checked the pressure control valve?

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you on this topic. With all of your suggestions, I am going to refer this vehicle to a shop with more experience on these vehicles. Customer satisfaction is more important than saving face. It's out of our spectrum of expertise.

Thanks for your advice.
