2004 Volkswagen Passat GLS - Secondary Air Inj
WE have code 16795. Secondary Air Injection System incorrect flow. We have replaced both plastic inlet and outlet air tubes and motor. It came back today and the outlet tube is full of ice and moisture. What am I missing or how to diagnose why ice and moisture keeps coming back in this tube. I'm suspecting combination valve but valve is expensive to guess if this is the problem. We did check the fuse for the pump and relay both are good. How can we fix this problem?

please let me know when you get this one fixed. i am getting the same code. I had plastic lines split coming off the thing connected to the booster. cleared the codes and it came back on 300 miles later. i figure it is a tiny leak. just cant find it.

Which engine do you have? 2.0 or 1.8turbo? Sounds like a bad combi-valve. There is a test procedure for the valve in OD-5.

Usually ice comes from the condensate from exhaust gases, which would indicate a bad combi valve. There is a specific test that qualifies the valve as good or bad. I'd run that test. I've replaced plenty of bad combi valves. Air pumps are common as well as broken vacuum lines.

it's only scary the first time. the first one i did i second guessed the heck out of myself. like ric said run the test. the outlet tube icing or puddling up internally is usually a bad combi valve. it settles there because it's the low spot. it's not being pumped in, it's a back flow issue. be careful with the hoses, i hear that they are brittle and snap easily.
never argue with a fool, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

Yes they do. On the 1.8 the valve is on the backside of the head towards the drivers side. If I remember correctly, some of the bolts go up through the manifold from the bottom. I used a long ball-head hex driver to access.
