Email Notifications Not Working?
Email Notifications Not Working?
I am not receiving email notifications for the topics I am subscribed to. The setting to do that is checked, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Re: Email notifications not working
Dumb question, but are they going to spam? Mine end up there quite often.

Re: Email notifications not working
No such thing as a dumb question, but mine are not going to spam, as far as I can tell. Unless it is getting caught on the server side and not making it to my inbox. That would be highly unusual because they have always worked in the past.Rich wrote:Dumb question, but are they going to spam? Mine end up there quite often.

OK, did you double check the email address it is being sent to? Not that a computer would "burp" and screw anything up. something is strange. I never set mine to send me a notice so I can not say I have noticed a change.

Sorry I missed this earlier; hour delay in airport now to tinker...
Has ANYTHING changed on your end? The thread subscriptions are automatic based on your starting or replying to a thread. I've got no other reports of a problem. If you can't think of anything that has changed, try logging out of the forum and log back in. Return to this thread and tell us that the option at the bottom of the page is Unsubscribe OR Subscribe. (If you are automatically subscribed as you should be, it will say Unsubscribe; if you are not being notified automatically it will read Subscribe.
There are a few possible User Profile settings that *might* have changed but even I had to dig to find them. Here's how to check.
1. Click on User Profile (way up top). 2.Under Board Preferences, look at Edit Posting Defaults (should be a YES as shown) 3. Also take a look at Overview, Manage Subscriptions (should be a list of topics you have started or replied to) So as you can see, it would really take some effort to change any notifications settings inside the forum.

It tells me I am subscribed to this topic. All of the settings you pointed out are set as they should be. I think I need to check on the server end and make sure something isn't going on there.

Thanks for checking; it appears we are sending and the receiving is the issue. Maybe a security or firewall setting changed.

Re: Email Notifications Not Working?
Our email provider is checking, but they tell me we do not have a spam filter on the server side. I'll let you know what they come up with.

Re: Email Notifications Not Working?
Still no news from our email provider, but I did change the email address so the notifications should start going to my personal email inbox. If someone wants to reply to this message, we could test that easily enough........

Well, it still isn't working, even with the different email address.

Re: Email Notifications Not Working?
Do you have that email address setup on a phone or other device outside the shop? Something is filtering the notifications out of your Inbox.

Yes, it is on a completely different server and is outside the shop.timbre4 wrote:Do you have that email address setup on a phone or other device outside the shop? Something is filtering the notifications out of your Inbox.

It was working fine then suddenly has an issue. I'll ask again did something get changed recently?

Re: Email Notifications Not Working?
Nothing has been changed that I know of. I even changed my email address in the forum settings to send the notifications to my personal email, completely separate from my work email, and I am still receiving no emails. It's weird.timbre4 wrote:It was working fine then suddenly has an issue. I'll ask again did something get changed recently?
I did hear back from the email provider for my work email this morning and she found nothing on the server to indicate a problem.

Re: Email Notifications Not Working?
Not a Guru by any means on subjects along these lines but I had a lap top that was tied into my main system so I could watch from afar and make adjustment while on the phone with the shop. The lap top tanked after 6 months and I was a bit miffed. The place where I purchased it allowed me my initial payment to be put towards a better quality unit. Hated to pay that much for a lap top that would eventually be lost, stolen or more than likely run over by me. Well the short of it was when I started using the new one within the shops system it made some changes to the network. Somehow it became the primary and was screening everything. I would have things automatically deleted by it and other strange things. I took it back and the store geek did some tweeking and all is well in Kiser Land well at least with my pc's that is.
never argue with a fool, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
Re: Email Notifications Not Working?
And what do you know. The email notifications are now working. Honestly, nothing has changed, but I received the notification for the last post in this thread. All's well that ends well!!

Glad to hear that! I suspect something on the ISP side.
