Tech Pay Hours By Date?

Post by motley06 »

Is there anyway we can get a report like 'Tech Pay Hours' but have it sorted/grouped by date?

The existing Tech Pay Hours report includes a date range selector and a one/all technician selector. A sub-grouping would have to be added and I'd have to check if that's possible. Before I do, what question would such a change address?

Throughout the week and at the end of the week, I send the report to my technicians. A lot of times on Thursday or Friday as the guys are looking at their total hours, it would be helpful if they could see how many hours they ran on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and so on. Right now, they are all mixed together and I believe sorted by INV#. It would also help me somewhat by being able to see what days of the week the guys are the busiest in the shop and maybe spot a trend. ie, maybe Mondays are slow or Fridays are busy.

Okay, here's the rub; the Tech Pay Hours report is driven by labor on posted invoices. In a perfect world, the invoice would always be posted same day as the tech work performed. Reality can and does intrude.

Since the actual labor is sometimes worked on a different day than the posted invoice date, the data presented for any given day would not necessarily be accurate due to potential omissions.

Makes sense. Perhaps bolt on can work around this or might be a feature built in to a time clock

That's exactly what I was thinking.......

Perhaps part of the by-the-job upgrade could be a mechanism by which a 'job' could be flagged as completed, thus triggering better on-the-fly technician reports coupled with an integrated time clock. Yeah. 8)

Agreed. When I worked at the dealer, techs would 'complete' or 'finish' out a ticket and it would change the status to 'booked'. 'Booked' meant that the technician was getting paid for the work completed, but the car had not been picked up yet. Just ideas for possible future enhancements.

Side note: it is surprising how motivated the guys get when they can see their hours daily
