Default technician for parts

Post by DynaBMan »

We recently updated to 9.2.0.4816 and I am seeing an issue that is continually getting worse. I have the default parts technician set to None because we do not use a technician for parts. Before this update, the selection always stayed on None. When I start a new repair order, the default technician is now almost always set to Select Technician, which is our default labor technician. I have double checked every work station and made sure all of them were shut down before I made changes to the host, which is my work station. It started happening gradually, but is getting worse. I have called tech support, but they were unable to help. I know I can easily change it to None on every repair order, but I really do not want to have to do that.

That's incredibly odd. Usually things like this have all-or-nothing behavior. Checking in with the support team to see if they have had other reports of this.

Are they orders you personally create, Larry? Or perhaps by another service advisor?

Mystery liked solved. I recall you saying your shop just recently started getting into the Schedule use. That's where those come from - the Technician value on the appointment is set for both parts and labor.

Will have to think about how to best divorce those...

Dan, I wonder if setting the default technician on the scheduler to none would alleviate that issue? Or would it just put everything at none?

It sets both parts and labor tech from that one value. If set to <none> on the appointment, it'll create the new EST/RO with <none> for both. :|

I don't care for this behavior, so I'm going to record an item to change this. I just need to ensure I'm not making detrimental changes to others, so it might take a bit of time.

Thanks, Dan. I appreciate you looking into it for me.
