2007 Jeep Commander Steering Knock
After some narrowing down, the knock comes only when turning left. Will occur in AWD and 4L settings. I can duplicate one time only while in the air on first turn to left. It occurs 8 out of 10 turns left. Still have not seen any visual indications for the sound. I have checked Rack and Pinion, knockles, tie rods, shafts, subframe, bushings, etc. The sound if a definite hard metal sound--a crack sound.

Make sure all the p/s lines are secure and not bent or twisted. It almost sounds like the older Caravans when the rubber line at the cooler would collapse internally or a sticking spool valve in the rack. At least i think that's what they're still called. This is a possible result of improper p/s fluid being added.
never argue with a fool, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
