2008 Buick Allure Not In Manager SE
2008 Buick Allure Not In Manager SE
I tried to enter a VIN for a 2008 Buick Allure CX in Manager. It wouldn't decode it, and when I entered it manually the Allure was not an available vehicle to choose. When I go to shopkeypro.com and build the vehicle there, the Allure CX comes up perfectly. Why is the information not available in Manager?

Re: 2008 Buick Allure Not In Manager SE
Welcome to the forum and thanks for the post.
The Allure is a CANADIAN re-badge of the U.S. model Buick LaCrosse. The YMM drop lists and VIN Decode function in Manager SE is based on U.S. market vehicles. The repair product (ProDemand.com / ShopKeyPro.com) is a stand-alone product that is built and maintained separately from the shop management program. Manager SE relies on DMV files to supply the YMM options and/or it's own VIN decode to build a model to pass to repair product and display appropriate content.
Manager SE doesn't recognize models not intended for the U.S. market and this is why the results differ.

If a Canadian version of SE is available maybe he could look into purchasing it.

Re: 2008 Buick Allure Not In Manager SE
There is one version of Manager SE; it uses the U.S. model tables and VIN decode.
Historically, Canadian cross-overs (re-badged US models) were handled by an article in General Information that informed the user which equivalent model they should look up for coverage. This has changed over time so that the repair product now reflects these in YMM selection and VIN decode, rather than the user learning of entering and using LaCrosse for lookups instead.
I will inquire if this is going to change in Manager SE. In the meantime, what is a user to do today? There are two approaches:
1. Manually enter VIN (no Decode) and 2008 Buick Allure, answer yes to the Custom vehicle prompt. This will record the YMM but repair will always ask for engine and trim (CX or CXL) EVERY time. 2. Manually enter VIN (no Decode) and 2008 Buick LaCrosse (with appropriate trim level), select Engine. (in Vehicle memo add a note as shown) This will allow you to get all repair information without engine / trim questions every time.

Re: 2008 Buick Allure Not In Manager SE
No repair software I've come across lists Canadian models of anything. It's frustrating that shopkeypro.com has listings but the directly linked management software doesn't. It's like we're so close.brianp87 wrote:If a Canadian version of SE is available maybe he could look into purchasing it.
