Maybe I am not doing it right, but there are instances when I see a part laying in our shop and wonder who's bill this part number is attached to.
I am able to use Part Number Search report to find it, but only if it is posted. When I have an active work order, the report will not find it. Is there a way
to find part numbers for open work orders?

Yes, a different approach is the Commited Parts - By Part Number report under the Reports > Inventory tab:Qbasic8 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 9:16 amMaybe I am not doing it right, but there are instances when I see a part laying in our shop and wonder who's bill this part number is attached to.

Re: Part Number Search report question
Thanks for responding. I tried that report but it is always empty. I also tried commited parts by vender and Commited Parts - Non stocked inventory but they are also empty. Any ideas?

Re: Part Number Search report question
Let's review part status per business phase:
Estimate = parts have no status
RO marked as Approved / Printed = parts are Committed
INV = parts are Confirmed (subtracted from inventory if so recorded)
Do you consistently use purchase orders to bring parts into Manager SE? You could search the P.O.s.
Do you have your system set to Mark All ROs As Approved / Printed?
Shop Data > Screen View tab - checkbox option, lower left column.
Maybe it's on an RO not marked as such = not Committed so never appears on those reports
When you say 'that report is always blank' I question whether your parts attain a Committed status.
Depending on your parts procedures, It's possible this part # may not appear on an open RO.

Re: Part Number Search report question
Committed Parts won't find anything on Estimates. Must be a "printed" Repair Order or open Invoice.
