Hello Guys,
We have a problem. We have this 2001 Subaru Outback 2.5L and the Customer was driving the car and it just quit and would not restart, we have installed new spark plugs, a new coil and a Used computer, but when we try to start the car and have it cranking we have spark on #1 and #2 Cylinders but none on #3 and #4 once release the key we get spark on all cylinders.
If you can help that would be great.

Re: 2001 Subaru Outback - 2.5L No Start
I would check the input signal to both sides of the coil. I believe this is a waste spark system, 1 and 2 fire together and 3 and 4 fire together? Four wire connector means 1 power, 1 ground and 2 control circuits. Compare the waveforms of the 2 control circuits at the coil. Then check at the computer. You may have a high resistance in the 3-4 primary control wire from the pcm to the coil. It's not likely on the input side of the pcm since the crank reluctor is multi-toothed. If you're sure the pcm was good and the coil is good, it would seem the only thing left.
